Term 2, Week 5 Friday 2nd June 2023
Playground
Everyone is getting very excited that we are almost ready to open our new playground space. This week, some of our Student Leaders were lucky enough to have a trial play on the equipment. There are a lot of ‘new’ places to play, including a trampoline and a low basket swing. So, the students are assisting us in making some agreements about safe and fair use. To ensure safety and fairness, all students will need to follow these agreements when using the equipment.
There are some final landscaping elements that need to be finished, but we are hoping for our GRAND OPENING on WEDNESDAY 7TH JUNE.
Semester 1 Reports
During our Student Free Day on Monday 29th May, all teachers worked on our new reporting system, using SEQTA. This semester your child/ren’s report will look different, but still contain all the important information you need. An important part of assessment and reporting starts at the very beginning of the process, with teachers using the Australian Curriculum to develop learning intentions and designs that allow all students to access the curriculum and achieve. These are linked to Performance Standards to assist teachers in moderating assessments to ensure consistency across the school and the whole system.
End of the day pick up
Please ensure that your child is registered for OSHC (Out of School Hours Care). It is free to register, and you only pay when you use the service. It is very affordable. All children are supervised until 3.20pm and then remaining students will be booked into OSHC. If children are not collected by 3.20pm and not registered with OSHC, families may be charged a higher fee from the school, this is to cover the cost of staff we need to employ to supervise your child until they are collected.

Thank you for your continuing support,

Dear Parents and Carers
It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through the term! It has been wonderful to see students engaged and enjoying their learning and being involved in many fantastic experiences such as the water safety program.
Water Safety Program
Last week our Reception to Year 2 students participated in a Water Safety Program at the Adelaide Aquatic Centre. The students learnt a range of swimming and water safety techniques such as the best way to get in and out of the water, floating, and how to stay safe around water. The students had lots of fun and it was terrific to see their confidence and skills grow across the week.
Next week the students in Years 3, 4 and 5 will be participating the same program from Tuesday to Friday, with our Year 6s going to aquatics later in the year. Please remember to pack all the important items such as a towel and a plastic bag to put their wet bathers in. I’m sure it will be a fun few days for our students.
Volunteers
We always need volunteers for special events such as excursions, water safety lessons and sporting carnivals. If you would like to become a registered volunteer to help at events such as these, please see Angela in the front office and she will be able to help you complete the paperwork. Thank you to those parents who already volunteer and support our teachers and students.

Year 2 students have created a " mini - me" as part of their learning on Identity. They are enjoying the text we are reading and learning from and can now join in reading in Italian .
Ottimo lavoro!
Great work !

Library news
During Week 4 we celebrated National Simultaneous Storytime where around Australia and New Zealand over 2 million people read the story ‘The Speedy Sloth’ by Rebecca Young and Heath McKenzie.
Students from Reception to Year 2 also got to make their own speedy sloth finger puppets to act out the story.
Years 3-6 were able to have a go at drawing a speedy sloth using Heath McKenzie’s step by step instructions, some students chose to draw a sloth in the wild.
The story was entertaining for all ages but also a great reminder to “Be proud of your achievements!”
